The development and promotion of new innovative services which are fundamental to the smart and sustainable city idea, lies at the heart of DAEM’s interest and is a strategic objective at the city level.
DAEM (City of Athens IT Company) is the oldest and most significant Local Government IT Company, as it has been operating since 1983. Its recent transformation to a Developmental Local Government Organization S.A. marks its new extrovert policy. DAEM, through its experience, responsibility and credibility, is nowadays setting a new course that guarantees its successful presence in the wider framework of Public Administration. DAEM constitutes one of the most solid links in the chain of implementation and support of two-way communication nodes with citizens, residents and visitors of the city. At the same time, it significantly contributes to the digital convergence of the operational standards of the City of Athens with those of other European Municipalities.
DAEM has participated and completed several European co-funded projects, such as: P.I.C. INTERREG III B – Méditerranée occidentale: TECHNOLANGUE, M-Guide project: Cultural Location Based Information Services and CUSPIS: Cultural Heritage Space Identification System, FP7-Aniketos, CIP-PSP-Puzzled by Policy, CIP-PSP- Peripheria, CIP-PSP Citadel on the move and is currently running CIP-PSP-Radical. National co-funded projects under Cooperation such as Viopolis and other information society and digital convergence projects have also been completed.
Main role in the project:
DAEM as the City of Athens IT company will act as a pilot site leader to pilot applications in its Living Lab environment and evaluate results. Building on past and present experience as an end-user pilot test site in various EU and national co-funded projects will also support the process of identifying user needs and gathering user requirements so as to provide the relevant feedback to implementation and integration responsible work packages.
